EXCELLENT Based on 194 reviews Posted on Ivin VincentTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Ivo is very charming, knowledgeable and fantastic to work with from communication and prompt responses to providing informative dialogue throughout the tour. Experiencing the hot springs after dark was absolutely magical. The warm water, the steam rising into the night air, and the peaceful atmosphere made it one of the most memorable moments of our holiday. Ivo had arranged all the reservations for us, making everything effortless. When we finished bathing, he was waiting for us with bottles of water to help us rehydrate. He then took us through Furnas at night to see the steaming thermal springs and mineral water sources. The sight of steam rising from the earth in the darkness truly lived up to the “mystical” description of the tour. He also offered additional suggestions of places to visit and dining experiences for the remainder of our vacation. Highly recommend you take this tour with Ivo and to learn so much about the culture and community in this beautiful islandPosted on Elisa MartinelliTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Furnas is one of the most beautiful and interesting places we have ever visited, and it was only made more incredible by Ivo’s tour! His knowledge and attention to detail in planning this experience truly made the evening amazing…the best evening we had in Sao Miguel!Posted on Lucie VernerováTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We chose the Furnas by Night tour with WildScape Azores Tours at the very beginning of our stay on São Miguel, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions of our trip. It was the perfect introduction to the island and helped us understand and appreciate the Azores from day one. We were incredibly lucky because there were only four participants that evening – just our family and our guide, Ivo. From the moment he picked us up at our hotel, the experience felt more like spending time with a knowledgeable local friend than joining an organized tour. During the drive, he constantly pointed out interesting places, explained local history, culture, geology, and everyday life on the islands, and happily answered all our questions. On the way to Furnas, he stopped at beautiful viewpoints, including the famous view over Vila Franca do Campo. Once in Furnas, he introduced us to the fascinating geothermal landscape, explaining the fumaroles, hot springs, volcanic activity, and even how the warm ground is used to cook the traditional Cozido das Furnas. What impressed us most was that he did not simply repeat facts – he shared stories and local perspectives that made everything much more interesting and memorable. Dinner was another highlight. The Cozido was delicious and the portions were enormous. Instead of disappearing while we ate, Ivo sat with us, and we spent the evening talking about life in the Azores, local traditions, education, tourism, and island culture. Those conversations gave us insights we would never have gained from a guidebook. After dinner, we visited the Dona Beija thermal baths. What really made the experience exceptional were the small personal touches. Knowing that I follow a gluten-free diet, Ivo not only ensured that my dinner requirements were accommodated but also brought traditional pastries baked by his mother and it was gluten-free! That level of thoughtfulness is something you rarely encounter. The service did not end when the tour was over. During the rest of our stay on São Miguel, Ivo continued to help us with recommendations for places to visit and restaurants to try. Later, when we traveled to Terceira, he again shared suggestions and local tips. Since he had studied there, his recommendations were incredibly valuable and helped us make the most of our time on that island as well. This was far more than a sightseeing tour. It felt like being welcomed by a local who genuinely wanted us to discover and enjoy the Azores. If you are visiting São Miguel and want an authentic, informative, and unforgettable experience, I cannot recommend this tour and Ivo highly enough.Posted on Mike and MaryTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The guide, Ivo, was prompt on the pickup, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The sights and the hot springs were great, despite the weather not being foggy. Meal was excellent (and huge), just don't expect a "luau" type experience. You see the pits where it is prepared but it is cooked before your arrival and served inside the restaurant.Posted on Curt CarinoTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Ivo was an excellent guide with a wealth of knowledge as he is from the Azores. Any question was answered with passion that helped appreciate the island more. Throughout the Western tour, he safely drove us to each destination, took the best pictures at vantage points, and advocated for our group especially during the lunch buffet which had a lot of options. The dessert was delicious that varies from day to day. We had the flan and rice pudding. For those worried about bathroom use, public bathrooms were available throughout. The van promptly picked us up/dropped off from Hotel Verde Mar in Ribeira Grande. I highly recommend this tour because the locations can be very busy and made the vacation less stressful. We had our own car, but it made the beautiful views of the Azores more enjoyable. You get a chance to explore each area from 15-45 min. Feel free to pack for the beach/pools. I did a quick dip into the pools and just walked around the beach. We would try other tours if our time allowed. The fees are worth the experience. Definitely book with Wildscape Azores Tours!Posted on Erin PayneTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our evening tour of Furnas was absolutely unforgettable and one of the best experiences we had on São Miguel. The entire evening was beautifully organized, from exploring the geothermal wonders of Furnas to enjoying the famous traditional cozido dinner and ending the night soaking in the relaxing hot springs under the stars. The dinner itself was incredible — authentic, flavorful, and such a unique way to experience Azorean culture. Learning how the cozido is slow-cooked underground using volcanic heat made the meal even more special. After dinner, the stop at the hot springs was the perfect ending: peaceful, warm, and unbelievably relaxing. What truly made this tour exceptional, though, was our guide, Ivo. His knowledge of São Miguel and the Azores was amazing, and you could immediately tell how passionate he is about his island. He shared so much history, local insight, and fascinating information throughout the evening, making every stop more meaningful and memorable. Ivo also went above and beyond in making everyone feel welcome. He was constantly offering fantastic recommendations for places to visit, restaurants to try, scenic viewpoints, and hidden gems around the island — the kind of local advice you would never find in a guidebook. One of the sweetest touches was that he even brought homemade treats prepared by his mother to share with the group, which made the experience feel personal, warm, and genuinely heartfelt. You can tell Ivo truly loves what he does and takes pride in sharing the beauty and culture of São Miguel with visitors. His kindness, enthusiasm, and attention to detail turned a great tour into an unforgettable one. Highly, highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting the island.Posted on Alina LatypovaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Best experience! We booked 2 tours with Ivo on his website which came with a discount, and these tours were the highlight of our vacation! Highky recommended, just 2 perfect days full of great views, great food and a lot of inforamtion from the guide!Posted on Madalina GrozaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Ivo was fantastic and he has a great wealth of knowledge about the island. He was punctual, attentive throughout the tour and he shared information about Furnas. We had a wonderful time learning about the area, exploring and sightseeing. It was a good mix of group and independent exploration. All 5 of our senses were engaged during the tour: we saw beautiful places, smelt the sulfur from the fumaroles, tasted the wonderful stew and fountain water with medicinal properties, heard the history behind the region and touched the hot ground and walls around the fumaroles. The hot springs at Dona Beija were fantastic and incredibly relaxing for both body and mind. They have security on site which added to the feeling of safety. Lastly, we ended the night with eating a home made bean pastry Ivo brought. All in all it was a fantastic experience and we 100% reccomend booking this tour.Posted on Mary Kay MarchettiTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We thoroughly enjoyed the store. I was a very attentive and knowledgeable guide. Being in a small group made it very personal. Dinner was excellent and plentiful. Experiencing furnace at night was amazing. This was definitely not an experience we could’ve had in our own. Highly recommended!Posted on Leona GrootTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Ivo took us to Furnas for the Mystic Tour. It was a wonderful experience! Ivo picked us up promptly and was a great driver for our trip from Ponta Delgada. We stopped at Vila Franco do Campo to view the island offshore. Ivo came prepared with umbrellas so we could walk to the shore filled with black lava rocks. We then checked out the intriguing caldeiras before heading to a restaurant to sample the stew. There was tons of food! The we enjoyed the hot springs called Poça da Dona Beija. Very beautiful at night! Lastly, we took a nice walk around additional caldeiras and sampled some natural waters from the area. Ivo was great! He was very personable and shared some great stories of the island and of the history of Portugal and the Azores.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
